Clinical Occupational Therapist II, Temporary Full-Time
Mental Health and Addictions, Hope Valley Youth Treatment Centre, Grand Falls - Windsor
Definition of work:
The Hope Valley Centre is a twelve bed facility with a mandate to provide residential addictions and mental health treatment and withdrawal management services to youth between the ages of 11 and 18 with complex addictions and mental health needs. Services are provided by a multidisciplinary team using an evidence based approach to the treatment of substance use issues experienced by youth and their families. The Clinical Occupational Therapist II is an integral member of the multidisciplinary treatment team. This position reports to the regional manager of Mental Health and Addictions.
The successful candidate must demonstrate an awareness of and be responsible for promoting and supporting person-and family-centred care, demonstrate a commitment to safety and partner with all team members to improve worker and patient safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks and implementing improvements.
The Hope Valley Treatment Centre is home to a service dog which is often used as part of therapeutic programming for clients. Employees will have regular contact with the service dog and will share responsibilities associated with the care of this dog.
Required qualifications:
* Graduate degree specializing in Occupational Therapy from a university approved by Central Health.
* Certification with the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapy (CAOT).
* Licensure with the Newfoundland and Labrador Occupational Therapy Board (NLOTB).
* Two (2) years' work experience within the last 5 years in a mental health and or addictions setting.
* Demonstrated knowledge of adolescent development and current best practice approaches used to treat youth with complex addictions and mental health needs; including biopsychosocial perspectives, holistic and community approaches.
* Demonstrated ability in providing counselling and education to youth and their families regarding mental health and addictions issues.
* Demonstrated research, analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
* Use of a private vehicle and valid driver's license are a condition of employment.
* Consistent demonstration of Central Health's corporate values; Compassion, Accountability, Respect, Equity and Safety
* A satisfactory Child , Youth and Family Services Record Check.
* A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required for this position.
* A satisfactory certificate of conduct from the RCMP or local police authority.
Hours of Work:
75 hours bi-weekly (shift work may be required)

CG-43 ($41.85-$49.36)
