Trades Worker II (Plumber), Permanent Full Time
Plant Maintenance, Notre Dame Bay Memorial Health Centre, Twillingate
Definition of work:
The Trades Worker II is journeyperson level work in building mechanical, electrical, or plumbing. This position is responsible for performing electrical work including installing, replacing or repairing electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, fibre-optic and coaxial cable assemblies, lighting fixtures and other electrical components. The Trades Worker II performs plumbing repairs including installation of various types of piping and pumping systems and fixtures, repairs and maintains piping and cooling, heating, water delivery and fluid waste disposal systems; repairs and overhauls boilers and boiler accessories and performs boiler maintenance; troubleshoots, maintains and repairs heating, ventilation, air handling, refrigeration and air conditioning systems; troubleshoots and maintains vacuum, hydraulic and pneumatic systems and programmable digital controls; reads and interprets blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine requirements; orders material and supplies; performs preventative maintenance on various equipment and machines; liaises and communicates with contractors; and other related duties including general maintenance and assisting other building trades may be required. Travel within the region to perform maintenance related duties may be required. The successful candidate must demonstrate an awareness of and be responsible for promoting and supporting person-and family-centered care, demonstrate a commitment to safety and partner with all team members to improve worker and patient safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks and implementing improvements.
Physical Demands:

* Regularly lifts/moves object up to 25 lbs. Occasionally lifts/moves >50lbs. Push/Pulling forces up to 50lbsF are required.
* Work repetitively involves reaching/stretching, bending and twisting; regular standing, walking, climbing, and being in awkward or cramped positions.
* Use of gross and fine motor skills; constant use of hand tools that require accurate control and steadiness and maintaining physical balance (e.g. ladders/scaffolding).
* Work Environments present potential for exposure to scented/chemical products and/or other allergens within publicly accessible areas.
* Work environments can present exposure to loud noises or environmental hazards; potential for exposure to blood, bodily fluids and/or other contagion. Personal protective equipment is required for specific areas.
* Maintaining a clean-shaven face can be mandated to ensure proper seal of personal protective equipment.
Required qualifications:
* Graduation from high school with a diploma recognized by the Newfoundland and Labrador Department of Education and Early Childhood Development.
* Journeyperson level certificate approved by Central Health.
* A valid Newfoundland and Labrador Class IV Driver's License.
* Demonstrated knowledge of:
¢ Technical method and codes in plumbing, electrical and carpentry.
¢ Asbestos, WHMIS and occupational Health and Safety.
¢ Applicable building codes.
¢ Removal of hazardous materials.
* Demonstrated ability to:
¢ Install various hardware.
¢ Repair or calibrate machinery.
¢ Operate a computer to prepare documents or access databases.
¢ Read blueprints, drawings and sketches.
* Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills.
* Consistent demonstration of Central Health's corporate values; Compassion, Accountability, Respect, Stewardship and Quality.
* A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required for this position.
* A satisfactory Certificate of Conduct from the RCMP or local police authority.
Preferred qualifications:
* Experience working in a health care environment.
Hours of Work:
75 hours bi-weekly (Shift work may be required)

CG-29 ($26.02-$28.90)
