Nurse Practitioner, Temporary Full-Time (approximately 1 year)
Personal Care Homes, Grand Falls-Windsor

Definition of work:
The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is responsible to provide comprehensive assessment and care to personal care homes residents. This is an advanced practice role providing professional, analytical and an autonomous, comprehensive range of health services to clients including but not limited to health assessments and diagnosis of diseases, disorders, injuries and conditions; treating and managing acute and chronic illnesses and providing supportive care including palliation for residents in personal care homes.

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) will provide work in partnership with the long term care, personal care, acute care and community settings, to develop, lead, implement and evaluate best practice, policies, and standards of care and clinical services and collaborate with the broader healthcare team and community partners regarding complex and challenging care situations within the Central region. The NP will assume a leadership role in influencing clinical practice and patient outcomes. The NP will promote a person and family centered philosophy to care and establish a preventative, integrated, approach that is driven by individualized assessment of needs and individual choice. The successful candidate must demonstrate an awareness of and be responsible for promoting and supporting person-and family-centered care, demonstrate a commitment to safety and partner with all team members to improve worker and patient safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks and implementing improvements.

Required qualifications:
* Graduation from a Nurse Practitioner program approved by Central Health.
* Current registration with ARNNL as a Nurse Practitioner (Family All Ages or Primary Health Care) or eligibility to register as a Nurse Practitioner.
* Current BLS certification.
* Demonstrated knowledge of community, personal care and long term care health services.
* CNA certification in Gerontology or willingness to complete within a reasonable time frame.
* Gentle Persuasive Approach or willingness to complete within a reasonable time frame.
* Demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities and problem-solving skills, as well as, oral and written communication skills.
* Demonstrated ability to work well independently and with others in an interdisciplinary team environment.
* Demonstrated initiative.
* Consistent demonstration of Central Health's corporate values; Compassion, Accountability, Respect, Stewardship and Quality.
* Willing to work a flexible work schedule.
* A valid Newfoundland and Labrador Class IV Driver's License.
* A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required for this position.
* A satisfactory certificate of conduct from the RCMP or local police authority.

Preferred Qualifications:
* Demonstrated skill in using health care-based computer systems such as Meditech, CRMC, and EMR

Hours of work: 75 hours biweekly (Flexible schedule/hours of work will be required)
Salary: NS-35 ($43.57-$54.02)
