Emergency Physician, Permanent Full-Time
Emergency Room, Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre, Grand Falls-Windsor
Definition of work:
With increasing demands on emergency rooms in the Central Health RHA, and a move towards virtual support provision for category B emergency rooms, double coverage positions have been added for 8am to midnight daily. The physician will cover the department for one of two 8-hour double coverage shifts (8am-4pm, 4pm-midnight). The Double coverage physician will be responsible for provision of virtual care during times of double coverage (8am-midnight). Expectation for the double coverage physician to provide primary and overnight coverage when comfort level is reached and critical care courses are completed (ACLS/PALS/ATLS).
The successful candidate must demonstrate an awareness of and be responsible for promoting and supporting person-and family-centered care, demonstrate a commitment to safety and partner with all team members to improve worker and patient safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks and implementing improvements.
Required qualifications:
* Earned Medical Degree.
* Eligible for registration and licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador
* Satisfy the credentialing requirements of Central Health's Discipline of Emergency Medicine.
* CFPC certification (special competency in Emergency Medicine not required but favourable for the position).
* Candidates should have completed or be registered for ACLS, and PALS, within 6 months of acceptance, ATLS within 1 year of acceptance
* Consistent demonstration of Central Health's corporate values; Compassion, Accountability, Respect, Stewardship and Quality.
* A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance
* A satisfactory Certificate of Conduct from the RCMP or local police authority
Hours of work:
128 hours per month (scheduling flexibility exists)
Salary:
Fee-for-Service at Category A hourly rate (as per the Memorandum of Agreement and Department of
Health MCP Billing)
