Definition of work: Reporting to the Regional Manager, Professional Development and Continuing Education, the librarian is responsible for performing a wide range of regional library services. This includes applying library theory, principles, concepts, methods and techniques in a combination of specialized areas including classifying, cataloguing, circulation, references and research. Work includes participation in the planning and administration of library programs, collection development, direction of other library staff, and participation on the development of broad policies and guidelines affecting overall regional library services. Performs other related work as required. This position will be based out of the library at James Paton Memorial Regional Health Centre but some regional travel will be required. The successful candidate will be committed to safety and partner with all team members to improve worker and patient safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks, and implementing improvements.

Required qualifications:
* Graduation from High School with a diploma recognized by the Newfoundland and Labrador Department of Education
* Graduation from an approved college or university with a Master of Library Science degree
* Minimum two years' experience in a variety of library technical work, such as, reference research and inter-library loans
* Demonstrated strong computer skills, including experience accessing internet-based information resources
* Demonstrated ability to work independently
* Demonstrated exceptional communication and organizational skills
* A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required for this position
* A satisfactory certificate of conduct from the RCMP or local police authority

Preferred qualifications:
* Experience in a hospital library
* Recognized course (60 hours) in Medical Terminology

Hours of work: 75 hours bi-weekly (Shift work may be required)
Salary: CG-37 ($32.08-$35.83)
